IRC
What is IRC?
IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat. It is a means of communication between different users on the internet. With IRC an unlimited number of users can speak at once in a chatroom, not like MSN or gtalk where only two people can speak to each other at a time.
IRC is also fully text based, so the bandwith use is very low.
How to join?
Download an IRC client eg. mirc - www.mirc.com. After you have installed an IRC client, connect to our IRC server, by typing /server irc.ptawug.co.za OR /server irc.jawug.za.net OR /server irc.ctwug.za.net OR /server irc.dwc.za.net in the Status Window
Join our room by typing /join #ptawug in the Status Window
IRC Clients
There are a lot of IRC clients available for download on the internet. A quick google search for IRC clients will give you a wide variety of clients.
We suggest you use either mirc, or xchat.
